Black Panther (English) is an American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The film was produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the eighteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The story follows T'Challa who, after taking over the mantle of King of Wakanda, must defend his kingdom from being overthrown by an army led by Nakia and Erik Killmonger. As an act of good faith to help legitimize his rule, he allows CIA agent Everett K. Ross to meet with arms dealers in South America to investigate their illegal arms deals with several factions in Wakanda's neighboring states. In 2006, a film titled "Black Panther" surfaced in development. That year, Bill Buford, Taika Waititi and JohnSteinberg penned a script for the film that was called "Black Panther". In 2009, Kenneth Branagh signed on to direct the film. By 2010, Branagh was no longer involved as Feige requested that Marvel re-evaluate its approach towards the project as it became more timely. In February 2014, Barack Obama appointed Fischer as US Ambassador to Mexico. Later that month it was announced Fischer had resigned from his post after being appointed ambassador to the Czech Republic by President Obama. In late 2014, Marvel hired Mark Bailey to write a new script. In February 2016, Boseman's casting in the film was revealed although involvement from the rest of the cast was uncertain. Principal photography began in January 2017 at EUE/Screen Gems Studios in the Atlanta metropolitan area. In June 2017, Coogler stated that "the goal is to keep as much [of] this movie grounded [as] possible" and that Black Panther is being modeled after "an actual world where [superheroes] exist." By October 2017, filming had been completed. The film was released in North America on February 16, 2018, in IMAX and 3D. It also marked the first time that an MCU film received an IMAX 3D release. Set to be the 18th film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Black Panther" is the first Marvel Studios film with a predominantly black cast and was noted for having a black director. The film received praise from critics for its acting, direction, production value, costume design and soundtrack and many critics viewed it as one of the best films set in the MCU. The review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 93% approval rating with an average rating of 7.8/10 based on 336 reviews. The website's consensus reads, ""Black Panther" elevates superhero cinema to thrilling new heights while telling one of the MCU's most absorbing stories — and introducing some of its most fully realized characters." Writing for "Rolling Stone," Peter Travers said, "the star, the producer and the director of "Black Panther" have delivered a triumphant Marvel movie that carries a social message". Todd McCarthy from "The Hollywood Reporter" also praised the film, saying it is "an extremely well-made film which seeks to rise above generic superheroics with a deeply involved story, thoughtful themes and an impressive range of tones". cfa1e77820
